Take Exam (Pay Later)Arishta (Suffering) & Parivartana (Exchange)
The Essence
Not all Yogas are good. 'Arishta Yogas' are combinations for suffering, poverty, and illness. They usually involve the Dusthanas (6, 8, 12). However, the most fascinating yoga is the 'Parivartana' (Exchange), where two planets swap signs. This creates a secret tunnel between two areas of life.
Classical Verse
"Anyonya-ashraya (Mutual Reception)."
Modern Translation
Arishta Yogas: If the Lords of 6, 8, or 12 are strong and attack the Ascendant or Moon, it creates suffering. e.g., 'Kemadruma Yoga' (Moon with no planets on either side) creates loneliness and poverty. Parivartana Yoga (Exchange): 1. Maha Yoga (Great): Exchange between good houses (1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11). Result: Excellence. 2. Dainya Yoga (Wretched): Exchange involving 6, 8, 12. Result: Misery/Instability. 3. Khala Yoga (Wicked): Exchange involving the 3rd house. Result: Fluctuating fortunes.
Practical Insight
The 'Parivartana' Loophole. When two planets exchange signs, they act as if they are in their own signs. This is a massive cancellation of weakness. If your Mars is debilitated in Cancer, but the Moon is in Scorpio (Exchange), Mars acts as if it is in Scorpio (Own Sign) and Moon acts as if it is in Cancer (Own Sign). This is a hidden strength called 'Neecha Bhanga' via Parivartana.
Go Deeper
Look for any two planets that are in each other's signs. (e.g., Sun in Capricorn, Saturn in Leo). This exchange links those two houses permanently. Is it a Maha, Dainya, or Khala exchange?
