Mythology
When Brahma created the universe, he needed a force to destroy it so that renewal could occur. From his forehead, born of his intense anger and frustration, sprang a blue-limbed child who immediately began to howl ('Rudan'). This was Rudra, the Howler. He cried because he had no name and no place. Brahma named him Rudra and gave him dominion over the storms and the wild beasts. This myth captures the essence of Ardra: it is the primal scream of the soul that feels lost, the storm that must rage before the calm can return. It is destruction, yes, but destruction born of a need for identity.
