Mythology
Brihaspati is the Guru (Teacher) of the Gods. In the celestial court, while Indra is the King who wields power, Brihaspati is the Minister who wields wisdom. Without his counsel, the Gods often fall into chaos or defeat. One famous tale involves Tara, Brihaspati's wife, eloping with the Moon (Soma). Despite the betrayal and the war that followed, Brihaspati eventually accepted Tara back and even raised the child born of the affair (Budha/Mercury). This myth illustrates the Pushya capacity for forgiveness, duty, and maintaining the social order even at great personal cost.
