The Essence
Why do bad things happen to good people? The horoscope is the answer to this eternal question. It is the ledger of the soul. In Vedic philosophy, your life is not a random series of events, but a complex interplay of three types of Karma. Understanding this distinction is the only way to know what can be changed (Free Will) and what must be endured (Destiny).
Classical Verse
"Aneka-janma-samprapta-karma-bandha-vidhahine | Atma-jnana-pradanena tasmai sri-gurave namah. (Guru Stotram)"
Modern Translation
1. Sanchita Karma (The Warehouse): The total sum of all actions from all past lives. This is too vast to experience in one life. 2. Prarabdha Karma (The Delivery): The specific portion of Sanchita Karma chosen for this lifetime. This is your Birth Chart. It is the arrow that has already left the bow—it cannot be recalled, only endured or mitigated. (Fixed Destiny). 3. Kriyamana/Agami Karma (The New Action): The actions you take now using your Free Will. This creates your future. The Astrologer's Role: We analyze the chart to identify the Prarabdha. If the karma is 'Dridha' (Fixed/Strong), we prescribe acceptance. If it is 'Adridha' (Non-Fixed/Weak), we prescribe remedies to change it.
Practical Insight
The 'D-60' Secret. While the Rashi (D1) shows Prarabdha (this life), the Shashtiamsha (D60) chart reveals the Sanchita (Past Life Cause). If a planet is debilitated in D1 but exalted in D60, the suffering is temporary and easily remedied. If it is debilitated in both, the karma is 'Dridha' (Fixed) and requires deep spiritual penance rather than simple gemstones.
